As superintendent of Coalinga-Huron Unified School District in Coalinga, California, Dr. Helen K. Foster initiated a number of changes and improvements to make student achievement, staff professional development, and parent involvement the prime focuses for the district’s educational and administrative staff. Among other achievements, Dr. Helen K. Foster partnered the district with the Sobrato Early Academic Language Program, which led to academic improvements for students including special needs, foster youth, and students from disadvantaged backgrounds. She also implemented critical literary assessments and interventions to better address the student population’s academic needs in reading and writing.
A member of the Association of California School Administrators, Dr. Foster has a master of arts and a doctorate of education in educational administration from St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga, California. She also holds a master of science in environmental engineering from the University of North Carolina. In addition to her work as superintendent, she is a certified administrative coach in California and serves as an advocate for professional learning communities.
